GLASSES OF CHAMPAGNE

September 12

Netherlands

METER TALL PYRAMID

In September 2007, the Zeelandhallen in Goes, Netherlands, played host to a grand celebration of champagne as the world record for the largest champagne pyramid was broken once again. This time, a staggering 41,664 glasses were used to create the pyramid, which was constructed with the help of disabled individuals from Zeeland who pitched in their efforts during the building process.

As the champagne flowed and the glasses were carefully arranged, the excitement and anticipation built to a fever pitch. Finally, the last glass was placed on top of the pyramid, and the record was officially broken, marking the start of a joyous and unforgettable event.

But this world record attempt wasn’t just about setting a new record; it was also about doing good for the community. In keeping with this spirit, the organizers of the event chose to donate a portion of the proceeds from the sale of the champagne glasses to support sports and movement activities for adapted sports in Zeeland. Every glass was sold for €2, with €1 from each sale going to this worthy cause.

In the end, the champagne pyramid world record was not only broken but also used as a way to support the local community and bring people together in a shared spirit of celebration and giving back. It was truly a remarkable achievement and one that will be remembered for years to come.
